In one week, 500 students reported to the university.
The University of Poitiers was hit hard by the wave of Covid linked to the Omicron variant. According to France 3, 500 students declared to be either positive (half of them), or contact cases, between January 3 and 9.

Faced with these reports, the university has decided to limit face-to-face training to large workforce is specified on its site. “During this week, a limitation of the face-to-face (…) will be gradually implemented, by respecting the gauge at half the capacity of the amphitheatres and rooms.” And this, for the next three weeks, until January 28th.
Priority to face-to-face for TD and TP
This rule, specifies the president of the University of Poitiers Virginie Laval, however, is not a “general injunction”. “It is up to each department to choose its formatting” , she explains to our colleagues. The priority is to “maintain the TD and TP in face-to-face and not to be forced to switch urgently to remote at all.”
Invited on Sud Radio on January 12, the Minister of Higher Education Frédérique Vidal wanted to be reassuring: “ Students are vaccinated at more than 95%, the dynamics of the 3rd dose among 18-24 year olds is very strong. She defended the face-to-face, arguing that this was the mode of teaching desired by the students: “For the moment, no training has been passed 100% remotely.»
