The TIRs, which set out to take the export cargoes they loaded from different regions of Turkey to European countries, formed a 19-kilometer queue at the Hamzabeyli Border Gate opening to Bulgaria, while 2,500 trucks are waiting for exit in Kapıkule. Thrace Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade officials announced that there was an increase of 56.23 percent at Hamzabeyli Border Gate and 19.46 percent at Kapıkule compared to last year.
The TIRs transporting the export products from various regions of Turkey to European countries formed long queues at the Hamzabeyli and Kapıkule Border Gates opening from Edirne to Bulgaria. While the queue of trucks reaches 19 kilometers at the Hamzabeyli Border Gate, approximately 2,500 trucks continue to wait for the exit at the parks in Kapıkule. Thrace Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade officials announced that there was a 56.23 percent increase in the exits of trucks carrying export loads from the Hamzabeyli Border Gate in the same period of this year, compared to the 11 months of last year, and a 19.46 percent increase in Kapıkule. While 319 thousand 22 trucks departed from Kapıkule in the same period last year, the number reached 381 thousand 350 in the same period of this year. In Hamzabeyli, where 114 thousand 335 trucks departed last year, 178 thousand 627 trucks came out this year.
DELIVERY IS DELAYED
Coşkun Kaygısız, who went from Eskişehir to Romania, stated that with the increase in exports, the TIR queues got longer and said, “24 The hour is almost up and I’m in line. Our human needs are often a nuisance. Refugees get into cars illegally at night,” he said. Selçuk Karaaslan said, “We have been in line for 2 days. I got in line at 22 kilometers. Normally, I was supposed to deliver this product on Friday, but it is difficult at this rate,” he said. Truck driver Mesut Tüney, who came to the Hamzabeyli Border Gate to take the export cargo he loaded from İzmir to Romania, said, “I have been in line for 3 days. My load is pickles. I got in line at the 20th kilometer. We can’t sleep in line, we stand guard by the car. There are no toilets, we are going to the fields,” he said. Tüney said that while they were waiting to exit, the immigrants cut the TIR tarpaulins and got into their vehicles secretly and said, “A precaution should be taken against them.”
